You may have noticed that the Girl’s Own Store Website has undergone some changes this week.
It was set up when the Bridport shop was in full swing. But since the doors closed (2 years ago now!!) the business has evolved and the website badly needed an update to reflect what’s going on NOW – which is much more about Socks. It’s taken a while, being in the pipeline for a year. But, better late than never!
Now there’s a shiny new website with several new features….
There are, of course, the Ladies‘ Socks (along with the odd non-sock product). And then there are the Homewares – rugs and other useful handmade items and doubtless vintage pieces will also turn up from time to time.
Now here’s a quick run through of what’s new:
This may be Girl’s Own Store but the Website now has a department for Gents – with a selection of for Men; the Standard and Knee High Socks (size 8 – 11). And some extra large should be available soon.
You’ll find information and background on the wondrous Sock Knitting Machine – after all it does which makes all the socks.
And there’s now an Events Page – listing upcoming fairs and markets for when the Socks (and the Machine) get out and about. Here you’ll get to see the full range and selection – literally hundreds of socks, far more than it’s possible to have at any time in the Web Shop. There is usually a box of naturally dyed sock yarn available too, which isn’t for sale on the Girl’s Own Store website, but the Cottage Socks Etsy Shop has a selection if you’re a sock knitter.
And whilst we’re at it, there’s talk of Natural Dyeing Workshops planned for next year which will be listed on the Events page so watch this space.
Finally, many thanks to Steve and all the guys at Caged Fish for the Web design, with a special mention to Mark for his marvellous illustrations. We got there in the end!
