Description
Handmade Wool Socks – made on a vintage sock knitting machine dating from the 1920s. The machine is old and sometimes cantankerous, resulting in the odd imperfection – this doesn’t affect the wearability of the socks, if anything this just adds to the character. Colours available are listed clockwise from top left in second photo. Warm and cosy, robust and hardwearing. Perfect with boots, brogues or just around the house. Adapted from the pattern for ‘Standard’ men’s socks in the original instruction manual. They have an authentic vintage appeal.
Fits size 4 – 7 (37 – 40)
The yarn is hand dyed using natural materials from the garden, hedgerows and larder. 75% superwash wool, 25% nylon for strength. Natural dyes have a soft and subtle quality unlike chemical dyes. The colour is fast but there may be some ‘bleeding’ in the first wash, this is nothing to worry about.
Hand wash or gentle machine wash at 30 degrees. Low tumble dry. Cool iron only.
